kumihimo

This Japanese braiding technique (pronounced: koo-mee-hee-moh) has been around for well over a thousand years, but it's hit it big with beaders here in the US within the past few.  In our beginners class you'll learn how to do a simple eight strand braid perfect for necklaces and bracelets.  It's also the technique to learn before you move on to braiding with beads.  (And yes, we're going to be teaching that soon as well!)

Herringbone Wrap Bracelet

1904

Price: $35.00

Date: 10/23/2018

Start time: 10:30 am

End time: 12:30 pm

Herringbone is a basic stitch that gets used a lot in long tubular rope necklaces because it's so fast and easy to stitch up.  A few years ago, when two-hole beads started to come onto the market, Gail figured out how to use them with herringbone, and the result is something even easier and faster.  It's also gorgeous, especially with half-tilas in these matte metallic finishes.  And that's precisely what you'll be working with in this brand new project class!  A kit and full color instructions are included in the cost -- but be prepared.  Everyone you know is going to want to snatch this one right off of your wrist!

Some bead weaving experience is necessary.  (Try our Beadweaving 101 class to learn the basics!)

Staff instructor is Michelle.  Class fee includes a kit and instructions!

Nardó Earrings

1860

Price: $25.00

Date: 10/26/2018

Start time: 10:30 am

End time: 12:30 pm

These earrings by Czech designer Nela Kábelová feature quite a few shapes, stitched in interlocking rows to create a lovely three-dimensional mandala design that you're going to love wearing.  Our sample uses just two colors, but you could double that and they would still look just as good.  Make them bright and sunny for summer or play with matte and shine for something a bit more subdued.  Or do both!

Instructor is Michelle.  Class fee does not include supplies.

We're proud members of a large local beading community and glad to open up our space to gather in.

gail's beaded bead
We all love instant gratification projects. Okay, no beadwork is instantly gratifying, but these come close. You can sit down and finish one of these in fifteen minutes -- less for you quick stitchers. These little beaded beads are also just plain fun. Turn them into earrings or string a bunch of them onto leather for a necklace that will go with any and everything in your closet. Heck, just put them in a bowl and admire them. Promise you won't be able to stitch just one.

This class is great for beginners!

Date: 10/30/2018

Start time: 10:30 am

End time: 12:30 pm

flat herringbone 2Herringbone stitch is a favorite around here.  It's so fun to do and to look at -- all those angles!  It feels good, too, especially in this wide cuff bracelet.  It's one of the few stitches that most people encounter first in the round or tubular variety, but the flat version is a core stitch that all bead stitchers should learn to do.  And this project is absolutely perfect for that -- no pesky turn-around required!

Prior beadweaving experience is recommended (like our Beadweaving for Beginners class).

Staff instructor is Michelle.  Supplies not included.
