10:30 am - 2:30 pm
Learn to create delicate floral filigrees and then capture them between elegantly beaded hoops. A bit of chain allows the earrings to dangle and swing, catching the light…and the attention of everyone in the room!
This is an Adventurous Intermediate level wire class, so you should have a good amount of wire experience to take this class. If you feel comfortable using round nose and chain nose pliers to make your craft wire do what you want it to, you’re ready for this class! The length of this class is a little longer to give you time to complete the earrings with the techniques you will learn in class. Students will enjoy the projects and the opportunity to take a class with a world class instructor.
Instructor is Melody MacDuffee, author of three books on wirework, as well as several more recent booklets and dozens of individually published jewelry designs. Melody has taught her distinctive jewelry-making techniques all over the U.S. and as far away as West Africa, where she ultimately co-founded a non-profit that provides paid training and steady jobs at a living wage for disadvantaged young adults of the Krobo tribe. Her Craftsy instructional video, Filigree Jewelry with a Twist!, came out in 2015, and she is a frequent guest artist on Jewelry Television’s Jewel School.
Wire and beads are included in this class. Tools will be provided for you to use during class.
