Hot off the presses from Mel’s newest booklet, Deco-Style Wire Jewelry, these earrings capture the aesthetic of the Art Deco movement of the 1920s and 1930s.

This class is adventurous intermediate level, so please bring some experience!  We call it Adventurous Intermediate to let you know that even experienced wire workers will need to bring patience and an adventurous spirit to complete this complex project.  There’s a reason we set aside an entire Sunday afternoon for this one, but we know you will love it!  All levels of students will enjoy the projects and the opportunity to take a class with a world class instructor.

Instructor is Melody MacDuffee, author of three books on wirework, as well as several more recent booklets and dozens of individually published jewelry designs.  Melody has taught her distinctive jewelry-making techniques all over the U.S. and as far away as West Africa, where she ultimately co-founded a non-profit that provides paid training and steady jobs at a living wage for disadvantaged young adults of the Krobo tribe. Her Craftsy instructional video, Filigree Jewelry with a Twist!, came out in 2015, and she is a frequent guest artist on Jewelry Television’s Jewel School.

Wire and beads are included in this class.  Tools will be provided for you to use during class.

Covid Protocols during class:  In all of Melody’s classes you will be required to properly wear a mask for the duration of the class.  If you do not feel you are able to do this, this may not be the right class for you.   If you can’t wear a mask for several hours, or just can’t come to classes right now, you may wish to inquire about Melody’s online classes, available other dates and times, directly through Melody.
